Lenotti, Amarone della Valpolicella 2017

Lenotti is a stunning winery which sits on the shores of Italy's Lake Garda. Founded in 1906 as a "grape farm", it wasn't until 1968 that the custodians rightfully realised their fruit was of such good quality they should start making their own wine. Focusing on what the Veneto region does best: Bardolino, Valpolicella and Amarone; the Lenotti mantra is all about sustainability and putting the fruit first, which definitely shines through in their wines. Amarone della Valpolicella 2017 is only made in the very best years from a blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara. The grapes are soft-pressed and aged in oak for 5 years prior to bottling and release. Intensely bold, it has a complex nose of strawberry, cherry, cigar and plum which moves to a rich palate with flavours of raisins, prune and oak. Super smooth, soft and savoury; this is an awesome Amarone and one which pairs best with roast lamb or mature cheeses.
